Covid-19
and the lockdown are the over debated and hot topics this year.
While the world
is arguing about the spread of the virus as a conspiracy against the other
countries, the spread of coronavirus still remains a mystery.
So, let’s leave the topic to them and move our focus to a topic which according to me is equally important and that is our Fitness.

As there is a state of lockdown in
most parts of the world, most of the employees are working from home. While
work from home is the need of the hour, the precious thing we forget is our health and our
fitness.
Work
from home gives you the flexibility that your entire house can be your workplace.
However,
if your work is heavily dependent on the internet then the above point may not
be applicable to a few.
But jokes apart, amidst this flexibility, we often ignore
our sitting postures, our lunch timings, our family time and some people like
me even forget to keep ourselves hydrated.☺
These things
which we are ignoring this lockdown season may lead to serious consequences in
the future and we might not be able to undo this.
So,
here are some suggestions that might help you balance your work- fitness goals.
1. Sitting position
While working, it is highly
recommended to use a table and chair. Keep your laptop on the table;be seated on the
chair and work. Not only is this good for your backbone but will also embark a
new energy to do your work.
Some people take the literal meaning of the word “laptop” and keep the laptop on their laps. This can be very dangerous for your skin.
Few others, who are staying in hostels/Paying Guest accommodation, might say that they don’t have a chair and a table: What do they do?
In this case I would suggest to sit on the floor and pile up some books to set a suitable height for your “DIY” table.
2. Plan your day
The most effective way is to use your day to the fullest. Remember the way we used to prepare timetable in school days, this is an exact similar approach.
Create a “To-Do” list and dedicate your usual 8-9 hours for all your office work. You may further divide this time slot as per your office priorities.

Additionally, Block time for Lunch, tea-snack break and water break.
From my experience I would suggest block this time on your outlook or whichever office calendar you use so that no-one uses that slot for any meetings.
Outside your office timings, divide your time for family/friends and Working out by maintaining social distance. Besides, a sound sleep of 6-8 hours is a must for everyone.

3. Exercise and workout
Yes, amidst this lockdown people
are moving more towards the lazy lifestyle. As the companies have announced
work from home, they can wake up just in time to be able to login and then they
start working and working and working...
After which they are too tired and also
too late to do any exercise/ workout. Many of us will relate to this. But this
is not something to be happy about.
Experts say that exercise is the
best way to lose belly fat.Whether morning or evening, devote at least 30
minutes of your time for working out.
Going for a walk may be challenge for
many of us during this lockdown, so you may switch to Yoga, cardio, Zumba,
dance which ever suits best for you.
Do not forget to include at least
10 minutes meditation session. This helps relax your mind and to reduce your
stress levels. Try to meditate before you start your work this will help you
concentrate better.
In a nutshell, exercise is like a 2-in-1 offer. It improves your physical as well as mental health.
4. Eat healthy
One of the most important steps
towards staying fit is eating healthy.
There are two types of people, one who 'eat to live' and the other 'live to eat'.
No offense, nothing bad in these two types. But
you should be eating right.
Make sure to include the correct
amount of proteins, carbohydrates, fats, fibers, vitamins and other nutrients in
your diet.
Limit the amount of junk and fast
food.
That one packet of instant noodles may be very tempting and may save a
lot of time used for cooking healthy food, but try to develop some self-control.
Difficult for junk lovers, but this is important.
Include fruits and green leafy
vegetables in your daily diet. Fruits like watermelon, cucumber, tender coconut
increase water content in your body and are very good for people trying to lose
weight.
And needless to say, drink plenty of water!!
5. Hygiene and cleanliness
Work from home saves some time
for people who usually travel to office. So, people “use” this time to binge
watch. Netflix, Hotstar, Amazon prime and others are in full form these days (No
offense - even I love to☺).
But people are so engrossed in
these that day skip their routine hygiene and body care. We should not ignore the fact that during
this pandemic we should be more inclined towards our hygiene.
Take care to wash your hands frequently
with soap, wear clean clothes, take bath every day, go out only when required ,wear a mask while
going out and maintain social distancing.
Although, not a must point
considering your fitness, but keeping your room tidier will fill you with a
zeal to do your “not so interesting” work.
So, these were a
few suggestions that may help you move towards a fitter lifestyle in this
lockdown.
Getting these into practice may be a little inconvenient at the
start, but some dedication will help you in the long run.
So,stay fit and stay safe while
working from home ☺
